According to the Gujarati calendar, Sharadpurnima is celebrated on the Purnima tithi of Shukla Paksha of Aso month, also known as Rasapurnima, Kojagaripurnima or Kaumudi Vrat.


On the day of Sharadpurnima, the moon is very close to the earth.

It is said that the rays emanating from the moon on the night of Sharadpurnima are like nectar, so on this day people prepare kheer and keep it in moonlight at night and then eat it as prasad.


Sharadpurnima day is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi.

It is believed that on the night of Sharadpurnima, Mother Lakshmi roams the earth and blesses her devotees.

By worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on this day, the house is always filled with wealth, but this year there is a lunar eclipse.

 

This is the reason why, if the pudding is kept in the moonlight, the rays of the moon fall on it and the nectar can affect it.

It is believed to keep kheer in this nightly rain of nectar, but this time due to lunar eclipse it will not be possible.

Nine years ago also a lunar eclipse caused such a situation, but this year the lunar eclipse is on the night of Sharad Purnima, which will be observed religiously as it will appear in India.
 



This eclipse will start from 04.00 pm onwards.


In the afternoon of Sharadpurnima, the sleep period of lunar eclipse is starting, in such a situation neither Lakshmi Puja will be performed at night nor arghya will be offered to the moon.

In this case you should perform Lakshmi Pooja and Chandra Pooja on Sharadpurnima day before sleep or after the end of lunar eclipse.


According to Sridhar Panchangwala Kishan Girishbhai Joshi, this eclipse will take place on 28.11.2023 in Ashwini Nakshatra and in Aries.

Due to this lunar eclipse in the sign of Mars, there is a possibility of occurrence of earthquakes, natural calamities, storms, storms in the sea.


Inauspicious will be fruitful for Aries, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Pisces.


This lunar eclipse will be mixed fruitful for the rest of the zodiac signs.



Due to lunar eclipse on the night of Sharadpurnima, milk, rice pudding mixed with sugar and milk paua will not be eaten in the cold shadow of the moon.

The puja on this day should be performed before 04.00 pm or after the eclipse at night.



Significance of Kheer on Sharadpurnima


The rays emanating from the moon on the night of Sharadpurnima are considered as nectar.

This is the reason why, on this day, kheer is made and it is kept in moonlight at night, so that the moonlight falls on the kheer and it also has the effect of amrit.

In such a situation on this day you should also prepare kheer and keep it in moonlight at night and then consume the kheer.



It also brings good health and blessings of Goddess Lakshmi.



Touching the idol, eating, drinking, sleeping, cutting nails, etc. are considered taboo in religious scriptures after the commencement of Sutak.

It is also mentioned to stay away from lies, arguments etc.

There is no harm in taking suitable food and medicines for children, elderly patients and pregnant women during sleep.

Cooked food, cut vegetables or fruits become contaminated during the eclipse period and should not be eaten.



Do not do this during sleep


Bathing, donating, havan and idol of God should not be touched during Sutak.

At this time you can chant Guru Mantra, Rahu and Chandra Mantra.

However, pregnant women, children and elderly people can eat food during the period of sleep.

Add tulsi leaves or kush to food and drink before the onset of sleep.

It is not necessary to fast on this day on the day of Poonam, but people who always do this fast can do it, but can break the fast by taking a bath on the next day.


Keep basil leaves in the pudding


Sharadpurnima occurs on the day on which lunar eclipse occurs.

According to Sindhu's decision, if Tulsi leaves are kept in any food container, it will not affect eclipse.

In such a situation keeping tulsi leaves or kush in the pudding will not affect the eclipse.

Keep the pudding under the open sky at eight o'clock in the night before the eclipse and then remove it before the eclipse.

Myth: Someras used to be made only on the day of Sharadpoonam


The strength of the herbs increases on Sharadpoonam day.

This rasa was consumed by the gods, thereby increasing the nectar and the power of the gods.

It is also said that Lankapati Ravana used to absorb the rays of the moon in his navel on the night of Sharadpoonam.

By doing this he got regenerative powers.

So his strength was increasing.






Sharadpurnima: Maharas of Shri Krishna and Prakatya of Lakshmiji:-


1. Maharas: On this day Shri Krishna performs Maharas.

This is a yogic action.

In it, some of Lord Krishna's power gathers in one place in the form of Gopikas.

This action is done to spread energy in nature through the light of the moon.

Devi Bhagwat mentions about Maharas.


2. Lakshmi Prakatya Day: It is said that when the sea was churning, Mahalakshmi appeared through the churning of Aso month Poonam.

This day is called Parva due to the manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi.

On this day Lakshmi is specially worshiped and Kaumudri Vrat is observed.

3. Medicinal importance: On Sharadpurnima, the moon showers nectar with its 16 arts.

On this night, the herbs start to absorb the nectar quickly through the moonlight, so on this day the things that have the influence of the moon i.e. milk pudding is made and kept in the moonlight in a silver vessel.

By doing this, it gets its medicinal properties.

It is believed that eating this pudding increases immunity, thereby relieving many types of diseases.
